The Arms were granted by the Lord Lion. It features the horseshoe, the bible and stars of the Royal Burgh of Dornoch in the County of Sutherland; the book and mitre trace back to the 6th century foundation of St Finnbarr and subsequent cathedral school; the Gaelic motto is "Le Ionracas ’s Dìchioll" (with integrity and industry).[1]
Current publications in full color feature more blue in the arms than older single or two tone printings.[2]
For both sporting and non-sporting competition purposes, as well as to facilitate the guidance system, students at Dornoch Academy are divided into two Houses: Mackay (Red) and Sutherland (Blue).[3]
